| Finally, we speak again! District 2007 It's been a LONG time since our last update, but I will keep it brief. As expected, Rusty has been a wonderful addition to the group, and we are having a great time getting to know him and our new quartet sound and personality. We finished in 11th place at district, so we got to mike test for the second night. It was a tough contest, so finishing 11th was nothing to be ashamed of. Plus, since we were not singing for scores Saturday night, we could do WHATEVER WE WANTED! Nothing better. For those of you who weren't there, we hope to have a video up on the site soon. A Changing of the Guard As Jordan Haedtler, our founding baritone goes off to college in Southern California, we are happy to welcome Ross (Rusty) Orvik as our new baritone. Rusty, also a member of Voices in Harmony, is a tremendous musician, and a great addition to the group. Welcome Rusty!!! District Contest 2006 Results The weekend of October 6th-8th was the 2006 Far Western District Championships, and it was quite a contest! Both the quartet and chorus contests were strong, and UC4 did well in both. As a quartet, we qualified to sing the second night (top ten) and ended up placing 9th overall. Our chorus, the Voices in Harmony, placed second, and turned a lot of heads doing so. We are looking forward to the chorus contest and International next year. Also, congrats to Late Show, Checkmate and Harmony 101, the other Voices in Harmony quartets who finished in the 10. Late Show took the championship with two unbelievable performances. 8/06 - Uncalled Four Performs at Acheiving Harmony II Acheiving Harmony II was presented on the last weekend of July at the Woodland Opera House in Woodland California. It was a small, old fashined theatre, and the show and audience were a lot of fun. This was also our first public performance with Rusty Orvik. With Jordan going off to college in the fall, Rusty will be stepping in as our new baritone following District. Rusty is a fantastic musician, and we are happy to be adding him to the team. Also of note, Jordan performed at Internationals with the Westminster Chorus, which took the Silver. Way to go guys!! 4/06 - The Voices in Harmony win Norcal West! The Voices in Harmony (of which we are all members) win our first contest, scoring nearly 10 points higher that the closest chorus! We are extremely excited with the growth and improvement of the group, and we are looking forward to surprising a few people at District this year!! Uncalled four finished third in the quartet contest behind Late Show and Checkmate, both of which also include VIH members. 3/06 - Norcal East/International Prelims On the weekend of March 17th, Uncalled Four competed at the Far Western District International Preliminaries competition, held this year in Reno, Nevada. The first night was a bit rough (Joe had laryngitis!) but we pulled through and posted good scores. We are looking forward to the Norcal West in a few weeks. Special congratulations to Late Show, our new chapter quartet, who posted scores in the 80s and qualified for Internationals their first time out. 1/06 - San Jose and Bay Area Metro Chapters Merge The San Jose and Bay Area Metro chapters, historically the two strongest chapters in Northern Califonia have merged with the goal of creating a world class, A level chorus. We have also hired Dr. Greg Lyne, one of the best choral directors in the country, to be our director. Dr. Lyne has already directed two choruses (including the Masters of Harmony) to gold medals already, so we have high hopes! |
