ABOUT US
Uncalled Four was formed in the summer of 2003 by David, who had a desire to sing with his two sons, Jordan, who is still part of the group, and Partick, now at school in shouthern California, and singing with the Westminster and Masters of Harmony choruses. David, who at that time was the San Jose Garden City Chorus' Membership Vice President, met Dan the day he returned to barbershop after a long absence and they immediately began talking about quarteting. Within a week Don't Tell Mom was rehearsing for their first competition. Since then, Uncalled Four has come a long way. We have competed regularly, including three appearances at the Far Western District Championships and two at the Far Western DistrictInternational Preliminary contest, have been named Quartet of the Year by our chorus, and Novice Champions in our first Norcal West competion. We have sung numerous shows and performance. But this is only the beginning. We plan to do whatever it takes to keep getting better, and are looking forward to qualifying for Internationals and hopefully a District Championship someday.
LEAD - Joe Pigg Joe played Brass Instruments and piano through high school and college. He was a music major his first year in college, but realized that rather than making music his profession, he wanted to keep it as a hobby he loved. Joe was invited to audition for the San Jose Garden City Chorus in 2001 while his wife was away on a business trip. When she returned, he was a member and had already started to sing in a quartet called "The Three Amigos." Since then, Joe has enjoyed singing in the larger chorus, but his real love is quartetting. He has been the lead of the featured quartet for the Chorus' Spring Show, and has performed at concerts and on the competition stage. He has also sung with a quartet called "Last Call. Wht does Joe love quartetting so much? "There's something addictive about blending voices, hearing overtones of notes no one is actually singing, entertaining a crowd, and forming friendships with those in the quartet. It just gets more fun and sounds better the more we sing." Joe Pigg and his wife have a two-year-old son. He immitates everything, including Joe's singing (up 3 octaves, of course).

TENOR - Dan Beaudoin Dan grew up around music, with a mother who was (and is) a professional violinist and teacher, and wirh every other member of the family having some involvement in the performing arts. Although he has played several instruments (guitar, clarinet, piano) at various times, he found he loved singing most of all. He has no formal voice training other than that he has received through the Barbershop Harmony Society, but has been singing in groups, soloing and leading music, particularly in churches he has attended, for over a decade. Dan was introduced to Barbershop harmony in 1991, but was unable to join the Society at that time due to work and personal commitments. He never forgot about Barbershop however. After officially joining the San Jose Garden City Chorus in 2003, he was competing with his first quartet, Don't Tell Mom, within a month, and on the international stage with the Chorus in less than two. He is currently a member of Voices in Harmony, but gets the biggest kick out of rehearsing with UC4. Dan is married to a wonderful (and very patient) lady named Becky, also a musician and music teacher, and they have a six-year-ild daughter and an 11-month-old, both of whom already love music.
BARI - Ross Orvik Ross "Rusty" Orvik has been singing competitively since Junior High School. A trombone player by trade, he shifted to vocal music when he found that girls liked guys who can sing and play guitar more than guys who can blow a horn. He graduated with a minor in performing music. His released albums include performances with Barbershop Quartet "Shakin, not Stirred" and reggae/ska group "Modern Zoo." He has copywritten and published one song and left scores of unfinished scores littering his attic. Rusty has been a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society since 1998, joining first with the Racing City Singers in Saratoga, NY. In his day job, he is a Naval Officer, currently serving in Recruiting Duty (Join the Navy!) His wife and son begrudgingly support his full time music habit!
BASS - David Haedtler David first started singing Barbershop over 30 years ago, while in high school in Michigan. But life got in the way and he took a break for 20 or so years to go to college, get a job, get marride, raise a family, and other of life's details. A father of four (Bethany, Patrick, Amanda and Jordan), he's managed to sing with everyone in his family through church, Barbershop, local talent shows, and even with his wife Carrielynn at their wedding. An independant consultant, David has done some consulting work and meeting facilitiation with the Society's International Board of Directors and with the Harmony Foundation. He's also a reader in his church and makes it a point to try to get back from competitions in time to conduct Sunday morning services. David has been very active as a Board member of the San Jose Chapter, having served as Music VP, Membership VP and as an at-large Board member for several years. He was recently elected Chapter President for the Voices in Harmony Chorus. He's also been producer or director of many of the chapter shows, and has recently been tagged as "Mr. Sing-along", leading the audience sing-alongs at chapter performances.

BARI - Jordan Haedtler Jordan is a Freshman at UC Santa Barbara, working on a degree in Political Science. At age 11, Jordan was one of the youngest members ever to join the San Jose Chapter. Jordan originally sang tenor with The Three Amigos, and, for a short time, sang with his dad and brother Patrick in "Don't Tell Mom." But since his voice is clearly "bass-bound" he's more comfortable singing baritone these days. Although he no longer sings will Uncalled Four, Jordan is active with the Westminster Chorus, which took second place at Internationals in 2006. The statistician of the quartet, Jordan can tell you all of Uncalled Four's contest scores, the ranking of the top quartets in the District and the Society, and even who won the International God Medal in 1983 (Side Street Ramblers).
